Wedding planning got you stressed? Learn to just K.I.S.S.

Next week my fiancé and I embark on our very first trip together. We met while we were both students, with student schedules and a budget that can barely support it. Our “trips” were limited to camping and the odd road trip to Toronto, Montreal or Quebec City.

On Tuesday we board a plane to sunny and beautiful Nicaragua to meet his family. Needless to say, Valentine’s Day this year had to be fairly low key.

Our society — especially the wedding industry — has other words for “low key”: cheap, lame, inadequate, etc. All to say that, if you don’t spend the money then you are below par or you are missing out on something.

Let me tell you something, for only $19, my fiancé and I had one of the best Valentine’s Day ever.

My fiancé loves pizza. So for $19 I got the heart shaped pizza from Pizza Pizza. I took out the nice placemats, dishes and cutlery, pulled out a bottle of wine I had stored in our cupboard. You can see what it looked like above.

So, what’s the lesson here? Just to learn to K.I.S.S. which, of course, stands for Keep It Simple Stupid.

When wedding planning, we can easily get caught up in all the little extra things you could add to your wedding. But keeping it simple can save you money, time and stress.

Until next time,

Kristine
