Wedding Planning Getting You Down? Try Wedding Detox

Wedding Planning Detox

So it’s been a little while since my last post. If you’re wondering why, it’s because I was on wedding detox.

Of course wedding planning is fun, but it’s also time-consuming and sometimes stressful. And, as with anything else, when it gets out of control it helps to take a break.

So that’s what I did last week — my fiance and I took a break.

In our case, not just from wedding planning, but also from everything else. We spent the week on vacation, in Jamaica. It was amazing and refreshing and we did not talk about wedding planning even once. We didn’t even think about weddings, except when we saw one happening along the beach (it was beautiful, of course).
And it was nice. It was also nice to spend time together doing new things, rather than going over plans, and relaxing, rather than making decisions.

Now we’re back, though, and we’re behind (just like with everything else when you take vacation). But, we’re also rejuvenated and feel ready to start tackling all the little details and endless tasks that come with the final stretch of wedding planning.
Now, I’m not suggesting everyone drop everything and leave the country but, if you’re feeling overwhelmed or burnt-out, maybe it’s time for a little break. Step away from the planning. I assure you, everything will be waiting for you when you get back.
Maybe this means taking a weekend without any wedding talk. Maybe just a romantic dinner. Or maybe, trying something new together. Either way, make sure you take the time together to take a break and remember life together before wedding planning took over.
