Since the inception of Wedding Republic we’ve been talking about the shifting attitudes when it came to weddings. But what about the shifting attitudes when it comes to the modern relationship.
Interracial and interethnic marriages are a natural part of the Canadian culture, being in a predominantly multi-cultural environment. But even in the US the general attitudes around a little diversity when coupling seems to be shifting.
Here’s an infographic that shows the shifting attitudes in modern relationships and specifically who is marrying whom, and what their families think!
A few highlights:
Interracial marriage has doubled in the last 20 years.
Almost ALL millenials (aka: Gen-Y, those of us born in the 80′s and 90′s!) support mixed marriages.
One in seven marriages in the US are interracial or interethnic.
