Getting Married? A Realistic Marriage Contract

Whether you’re planning your wedding or are thinking of proposing, have you thought about what the actual marriage will look like once the wedding hype has died down?

Couples often get swept up in the engagement “high” (which you should definitely relish) and then caught up in wedding planning (which can be stressful yet exciting) and finally fall into the honeymoon period (which means you fall off the face of the earth for a while).

And then?

And then there’s the marriage part. While a “formal contract” might be overkill, something as simple as a check list with your top 3 asks might be useful…

If you are getting married, take the time to talk about what happens after the nuptials. Will your expectations change? Will your soon to be husband / wife’s expectations of you change?

Perhaps. And perhaps not. But it doesn’t hurt to crystallize the vision you have for your future together.

  1. I got a laugh out of this. Wish my wife, Nina, and I had reached a similiar agreement when we got married! Just checking out your site because my daughter is getting married and we are curious about potential spending costs. We are meeting with a wedding cordinator in a couple of days. Any suggestions on that front? I’ll be blogging about experience becoming the “father of the bride” if you are interested. Please stop by! http://www.fatheroftheblog.blogspot.com

  2. Great article. More people really need to check this out. It’s surprising I hadn’t found this earlier.

  3. Highly intriguing and well penned article. Cheers over again – I module come hind.

  4. With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help stop content from being stolen? I’d certainly appreciate it.

  5. Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

  6. My spouse and desired to help you advertise it? Any tips?

  7. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  8. I guess I should fill something out even though I’m here visiting. Many thanks for putting up fantastic stuff. It’s asking for a world wide web website here whilst I’m posting this, so here’s one which I used to be just checking out. Acquire care.

  9. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an very long comment but after I
clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again.
Anyhow, just wanted to say fantastic blog!
